 2008

Bert  Wilkins  1/6/1995 January  2008
There’s much news in the Wilkins household, including a new house and new job. Bert and his wife, Dia, moved to Tacoma in October, which put her closer to her job and Bert close to his new job as Regulatory Counsel for Quorum Review, Inc. Basically Bert ensures that the various human research studies Quorum oversees are done ethically and by the book with every i dotted and t crossed. And he gets to do it all because in early October he learned that he passed the Washington State Bar, meaning his years of studying are finally behind him.
Joe  Marchesano  5/31/2002 January  2008
Joe shared the news that "I had two very exciting things happen to me recently. The first is that I got into law school... it took some time and in the end I decided to give it another try because I know it is what I really wanted. As of right now it looks like I'll be starting Seattle U Law in the summer, unless I hear good news from UW. The second is that I (finally) proposed to Stacy after dating for 6 years (I know... I know). Surprisingly she said yes... or at least that is what it sounded like through her tears, either way she accepted the ring so I assume that means it's done deal, right? Also, congratulations to those of you who had me down for the 'marriage/who's going to pop the question first' pool."
Kevin  Wolfe  2/7/1992 January  2008
Kevin Wolfe moved back to Washington in 2006 and is working at Dri-Eaz in Burlington. He is engaged to Melisa Decker and the couple is planning a wedding for the fall of 2008.
Steve  Smith  1/14/1962 February  2008
Steve and his wife Monica shared an update: "We're back in Virginia, after about a year in Baghdad, and then three years in Sydney, where I was the Consul General at the US Consulate General. Australia was a terrific place to live and work, as you can imagine - and no shortage of excellent wines. I'm back at a job in the State Department - heading the policy and consumer services for new technology - blogs, wikis, and collaborative tools in general - we're in the process of doing some serious business reengineering at State! I plan to retire next August 2008, but we're planning to stay in the DC area. Would love to hear from any of the other chapter members from the early sixties."
Christopher  Boley  4/3/1998 February  2008
Chris Boley has proposed to Vanessa Lackington, and the couple has set a date of June 21 for their wedding in her native Ecuador. Chris and Vanessa met at Fort Polk, where he has about 10 months of service remaining as a US Army Specialist while Vanessa is preparing to start Officer Candidate School.
Andrew  Simes  1/11/2002 February  2008
Andy Simes ('02) is in the graduate program at the Rhode Island School of Design, and shared this update: "I'm exactly halfway finished with grad school and am definetly looking forward to graduation. I have had some success lately and am now on an academic fellowship and last year won the award of excellence for my class. I have not figured out what/where I am headed this summer or after graduation. I may try and find work in Boston for the summer so that I dont have to pay rent in two places like last summer, nobody really comes to Providence for the summer making it impossible to find people to sublet. I'm taking a full load of courses this semester with architecture studio, two furniture design classes, and a design for development class focusing on social entreprenuership. I'll be heading to the Bauhaus in Germany for spring break as part of my architecture studio so that should be a nice break midway through. Well I hope everyone has a great founders day banquet today, I'll be working on some research papers and drawings and will likely be feasting on some spaghetti instead of the delicious prime rib at the UW Club."
John  Heylin  1/11/2002 March  2008

This past year Robinson was honored as Pike of the Year by the chapter, as well as bring a finalist for the Interfraternity Council's Outstanding Chapter President of the Year award. He was also involved on campus within his department as president of the Undergraduate Geography Association while graduating with a degree in geography, focusing in geographic information systems.
Ben  Tate  1/7/2000 September  2008
Ben writes "The time has come and I have finally finished flight school. I received my wings of gold on Friday. I selected the Mighty Battle Frog (CH-46E) and will be stationed in MCAS Mirimar. First I will be six months in Camp Pendleton for the FRS and then off to my first duty station. It wasn't my first choice to fly 46s but I do get to come home to the west coast and though it's not skids, I'm sure I will have the time of my life. After all, I'm here for the Marines, not the other way around. I'm sure I will have more for everyone soon. If anyone is down in Southern California, don't hesitate to call."
Nathaniel  Mucha  5/27/1994 October  2008
Nat and Nicole relocated to Dallas, Texas in the fall after leaving the Vancouver area. Nat is still a sales manager with Hansgrohe, and his new territory still brings him to Washington and Oregon, so don't be surprised to hear from him when he is in town.
