Pikes assist the Boys & Girls Club of King County
|
On Saturday, April 3rd, twenty five Pikes from the University of Washington participated in the
inaugural "Pikes Building Community" project.
Undergraduates and alumni partnered
together to restore a baseball field and repaint a computer lab for the
Southwest Branch of the Boys & Girls Club. The Southwest Branch serves one of the lowest income
populations in the State of Washington. A grant from the King County Housing
Authority funded the supplies needed for the two projects and volunteers
provided the manpower. After the baseball field was restored, two teams were
formed (including kids from the Club) and the field was put to immediate use.
We're proud to see the men of Beta Beta chapter working to benefit the community, and we expect to
undertake similar community building projects in the future. For details about
upcoming projects and other events, visit the Events page here at UWPIKES.com.
