Dave Owens elected to ASUW Board of Directors

On May 15th, Dave Owens was elected to the Board of Directors for the Associated Students of the University of Washington (ASUW). Dave is the first Pike to hold an elected office at the UW since our refounding. Congratulations Dave! Before running for ASUW office, Dave had already held leadership positions on the Interfraternity Council and at Pi Kappa Alpha. Dave's profile, excerpted from the ASUW voters' guide: I believe highly in the value of diversity and its benefits. I am committed to developing a true sense of ‘UW community’ by bringing together the various groups represented on campus. I am dedicated to the belief that diversity is only valuable when diverse groups meet together and intermingle. That said, I desire the position of Diversity Efforts to increase the cooperation and partnerships between different groups. This can only be done by bringing together the directors of each student commission and other groups, while facilitating events and opportunities that will encourage a wide variety of individuals to participate. If elected, I will do all that is in my power to see the expansion of true diversity and cultural awareness by ALL differing associations of students.
